What is FIRST FILL (PHIL)?

First-fill casks are casks that have never been used before to mature single malt whisky.

They are typically made of oak, and the wood imparts its own unique flavours to the spirit.

The channel, First Phil Whisky, is a pun on this, as just like a first-fill cask imparts its flavours to whisky, I want to use the channel to impart knowledge about whisky to others who want to know more about this special drink.
